​Red Dead Redemption 2's Jack Hall Gang treasure map quest can be done as optional side quest, picked up early in the game. It can be done as early as Chapter 2, where the player can find a stranger on cliffs west of Flatrock Station, north of the railroad.

The stranger will sell you the first Jack Hall Gang treasure map for $10, which will allow players to progress to the first location. The first map will show Valentine, and Caliban's Seat, south of Valentine.

Players should approach Caliban's Seat from the southeast, where they can climb up on foot. On the plateau there's a camp on the right, but just before that the mountain slopes down to the right, head down there. Walk along the cliff edge until there's a gap, players will need to leap in order to vault over it. At the end of the cliff there's a pearl necklace, and the second Jack Hall Gang treasure map.

The second Jack Hall Gang treasure map will lead players to Cotorra Springs, north of Fort Wallace. Head to the second "O" of Cotorra on the map to find a circle of cairns, with the three geysers to the northeast. At the rock formation closest to the geysers there will be a prompt to search. Searching will give the player $15 and the third Jack Hall Gang treasure map.

The third Jack Hall Gang treasure map will lead players to O'Creagh's Run, a lake in the northeast section of the map. It's directly north of Emerald Ranch, and Station. Once a player arrives at the lake, it's pretty simple to spot a small little island on the map. On the southeast side of the island that's covered in grass, players can uncover a rock and search it. Searching the rock will give players to gold bars that can be sold for $500 each, which makes the side quest well worth the effort.
